Erykah Badu
Erykah Badu, better known as the ‘First Lady of Neo-Soul’, was one of the star performers at the Tobago Jazz Experience 2010. Though only the second such event, yet it attracted a galaxy of well-known international performers apart from some of the most talented musical groups and performers in the Caribbean. Erykah Badu, the American recording artist, actress and record producer performed at the World Music Night during the week-long festival. She is very likely to perform again this year for the festival which will cover 9 days beginning April 23, 2011. Her music includes elements of hip-hop and R&B together with jazz. Badu has frequently been compared with the eternal Jazz great, Billie Halliday in lyrical delivery. Her lyrics are best known for their highly personal, philosophical, political and emotional content. Badu is also known for the supporting roles she gave in movies like The Cider House Rules and Blues Brothers 2000.
