THE GREAT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO CARNIVAL

Vibrant, musical and full of life, Trinidad & Tobago Carnival celebrations embrace many of the island's traditions. Whip wielding devils, bottle and spoon bands, speech bands, and African drumming are all part of the merriment. However, Tobago's festivities are relatively laid back when compared to the festivities in Trinidad.

Tobago’s Carnival kicks off during the evening on Carnival Monday. Men dressed as women or wearing nightgowns party till the sun comes out on the streets of the capital, Scarborough. From about noon on Carnival Monday till late Carnival Tuesday, the capital is taken over by the revelers of masquerade bands - mainly comprising of women in sequined costumes and revealing feathers.

Before the beginning of the Carnival, Tobago also hosts several cultural events. There is Tobago Panorama Champions where the steel bands compete for a chance to win the title. There are calypso competitions as well, where Tobago's calypsonians compete to be crowned Calypso Monarch.

Cascading down on a hillside to a private beach, Bacolet Beach Club is the perfect resort during the Carnival. Only a few miles from Scarborough you can easily become part of the rejoicing crowds or if you’re looking for something a little more serene then simply unwind on the beach and get a glimpse of the Carnival during the evening entertainment. All rooms and Tobago villas at the resort face the sea, so each day you wake up to the comforting sounds of the ocean, perfect if you've been partying with the locals the whole night. Bacolet Beach Club is an ideal beach vacation resort to get into the tempo of the Caribbean. http://www.bacoletbeachclub.com/
